Description: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER - DERBYSHIRE AUTISM SERVICES - £35,000 - £40,000 SALARY AND BENEFITS

With the head office based in Ripley, our client is a Registered Charity that works with children, young people and adults with autism spectrum condition (ASC) and supports them and their families, providing practical help. They employ a varied team of people working 1:1 with the child, young person or adult for a set number of hours a week or responding to an unforeseen need flexibly and sensitively. The charity also provides group opportunities for children, young people and adults across the county and runs a small holiday home in the Peak District, proving overnight respite opportunities.

Owing to the retirement of the present post holder in late June, the charity is looking for a new CEO. This represents an excellent opportunity for someone with a proven track record of achievement in a senior management role to use their skills to continue, and to develop the already excellent service the charity provides for people with autism in Derbyshire.

THE ROLE

As the Chief Executive Officer, you will be based at the head office and will be expected to:

* Further develop and run an effective, client focussed, growing and high-profile service to meet the needs of people affected by autism in Derbyshire and beyond, through strategic leadership, management and development planning
* Ensure a sustainable financial future for the organisation
* Fully understand and respond to local, regional and national government policies, structures and processes, as they contribute to and affect the delivery, development and funding of the service
* Maintain and develop productive working relationships with commissioners and funders
* Plan for the long term sustainability of the organisation through exploring and exploiting opportunities to diversify funding
* Prepare the annual budget, monitoring and producing accurate and timely financial reports and forecasts
* Take responsibility for liaising with external governing bodies, including CQC, and take the role of CQC Registered Manager
* Oversee and develop the quality assurance processes, collating and acting on responses received
* Lead in the training of new staff and the updating of all staff to ensure excellent practice
* Ensure that the organisation's CRM system is used efficiently, effectively and in line with GDPR
* Take overall responsibility for the production and dissemination of professional and effective marketing materials
* Ensure appropriate attendance at events to promote the organisation to stakeholders
* Provide paid training and consultancy to external organisations as requested
* Manage and participate in the 'on call' rota to support staff in the filed out of office hours
* Supervise and direct all staff
* Report as required to the trustees on all matters

THE PERSON

The successful candidate will need to:

* Have a knowledge of the charity sector and its funding context
* Have experience of managing a significant budget
* Have experience of working in partnership with a range of external agencies
* Have experience of marketing a product or service to a diverse audience
* Have an understanding of the impact of autism on individuals and their families
* Be able to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people
* Have experience of managing a team at a senior level
* Be able to motivate a hardworking and diverse team, leading by example
* Be able to pass an enhanced DBS Check (Disclosure and Barring Service check)
* Have a full driving licence, access to a car and be able to secure business insurance

THE PACKAGE

* £35,000 - £40,000 pa
* A working week of 37 hours, usually Monday - Friday but with some evening and weekend working as the service demands
* 45p per mile mileage allowance for travel undertaken in the course of duty
* 20 days' holidays (plus statutory bank holidays). Increments applicable dependent on length of service
* Company pension scheme
