Description: A leader in the payments and transactional services industry are looking for a product consultant / manager. My client are working over 20 countries, and have 40 years of experience in the sector.

My client has a very well established Rail Operations Delivery Centre. The team there (50+) develop and manage products which are used throughout the UK Rail Industry. This role is very important and will ensure that their products and services remain fit for purpose.

Job description:

Focus is on the Rail Operations Engineering Suite including the support of the R2 managed service.

The objective is to increase revenue and manage delivery to customers, while maintaining good customer service and satisfaction across the multiple customers. This will involve;
- Input into operational and support requirements on projects, to review project documentation at key points to ensure requirements are met.
- To assist with customer issues and problems that the support team are dealing with

The day to day tasks of the job will be to:
- Support the R2 Managed Service team in responding to customer requests
- Service Reports - Filter SDM extracts to identify, explain and create improvements for any SLA breeches on the Engineering products;
- Service Reviews - Attend customer service reviews, respond to actions from meetings
Chair team meetings;
- Work with the existing functional support team to respond to customer quotes
o To gather estimates from technical support team;
o Produce quotes and formally respond to customers
o Follow up previously completed quotes with customers
o Attend internal sales meetings to provide feedback of new / open quotes
o Invoice customers for deliveries;
- Manage the transition of new products into support - Ensure new products and enhancements are fully tested, documented and demonstrated to the support team.

Essential criteria:
- Good customer facing skills, including verbal & written communication.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Rail Industry , Engineering business area and standards, specifically relating to vehicle registration and details
- Good knowledge and understanding of vehicle types and formations
- Good understanding of difference between Rail Organisations i.e. owners, operators, maintainers, builders.
- Experienced in functional support skills
- Able to create accurate & complete functional specifications from problem records and discussions with customers
- Organised and methodical approach to work, with the ability to progress issues to resolution
- Demonstrate adherence to following processes/plans
- Creation, review & update of documentation
- Able to establish a good rapport with a range of business and technical colleagues across sites.
- Able to work independently or as part of a team, depending on the nature of the task in hand
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and self-development

It would be a big advantage if you have experience of working in a Rail Industry engineering environment.

ITIL qualified to at least V3 Intermediate Level or V2 Practitioner Level desirable

- Able to create and run SQL
- Knowledge of Windows and other operating platforms
