Job Summary:

The candidate will be required to:

* Design and develop software for:

* the company’s range of electronic products
* the manufacture, test and support of the above products

* Test and validate software components, applications and systems
* Work with other engineering disciplines and with manufacturing partners to ensure that performance, quality, cost and manufacturability requirements are met

Principal Duties

The principal duties and responsibilities of the role are to:

* Design and develop application software to meet specified requirements
* Design user interfaces
* Propose and carry out design verification and validation activities
* Implement software/scripts
* Set up, document and maintain build and test environments
* Generate and issue software and licenses for use by internal and external customers
* Perform testing of software and systems
* Validate compatibility of application software across operating systems and/or versions
* Implement revision controls on software configuration items
* Manage the configuration of key deliverable items/documents and their life cycles by means of engineering changes, concessions, conjunction with corporate configuration management resources
* Assist in management/configuration of software configuration management tools
* Assist in capturing, recording and tracking software defects and change requests
* Participate in design reviews
* Create and maintain associated documentation and records
* Ensure that design/development activities adhere to the company’s ISO9001 related procedures and policies
* Work closely with other parts of the company and the company’s partners to meet agreed project timelines and customer expectations
* Undertake any other tasks reasonably required by the company

Technical Skills/Experience

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

* C#/C++ development for Windows with MS Visual Studio
* WPF user interface framework
* Serialisation/Deserialisation via file storage and communication links
* Software deployment
* Software configuration management
* Writing specifications and design documentation
* Design verification/validation
* Testing software
* Embedded software development in C/C++
* Python and/or Scientific/Maths Python libraries
* Winforms library
* QT user interface framework/Embedded user interface design
* Software and Data security including Encryption
* Code/Driver signing
* Linux/BSD operating systems
* Interfacing to lab equipment and devices using IVI/VISA/Ethernet Sockets
* Interfacing to USB CDC devices using C#/C++/Python
* Design patterns and principles; MVVM, RAII, SOLID, Finite State Machines, Real-time systems
* Design for mobile devices
