An International Aerospace and Defence Company is looking for Lead Navigation / GNSS Engineer to join their Worcestershire operations. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Senior Navigation Engineer to take up a leading role in this internationally renowned Defence company. The team here has grown rapidly in recent years due to strong overall growth in the company, so you would be joing a team of circa 35-40 experts.

The work that you would undertake if successful, is focussed around developing Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver products. Looking at legacy tools and equipment/products, phasing them out and bringing new ones in. Also involved in research and development activities.

Galileo – European version

The team is currently working with European Space Agency and their research arm to help develop a secure GNSS system. Currently developing receivers (specialist, high accuracy, robust jamming in attacks).

Overall Purpose of the Job • Lead/contribute to all stages in the delivery of customer focused research, development, consultancy and product support activities in the field of secured navigation. • Provide technical expertise and advice on GNSS aspects. • Interact with and lead Subject Matter Experts working in multi disciplinary, multi nation teams to deliver R&D, product and consultancy outputs. Key Accountabilities • Responsible to the Secured Navigation Integrated Delivery Team Lead and Secured Navigation Chief Engineer for GNSS technical support to projects. • Deliver high quality designs, report which focus on customer problems and solutions. • Represent the company in multi-nation consortiums to European and UK customers, as required. • Contribute to (or lead) the development of proposals in response to requests from customers and consortium partners. Challenges • Rapid learning and consideration of the technical, security, and political landscape • Working in multi-nation consortia for a broad range of customers • Communicating ideas with multiple stakeholders and customers, at all levels, technical, non-technical and management • Able to identify, capture and drive forward innovative GNSS solutions PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required • Good degree (i.e. 2.1 or better) in a science, engineering or maths subject (or >5 years directly applicable experience). • Knowledge and experience of GNSS technology, particularly Galileo and GPS. • Proven experience of working in a GNSS related role • Proven ability to interpret customer requirements and develop innovative solutions • Able to oversee and lead subcontractors Desirable Experience Experience of some or all of the following: • Navigation system specification • Navigation signal processing • Navigation processing • Other GNSS technologies • Multi-sensor navigation • Robust navigation techniques (anti-jam, anti-spoof) • RTK, Differential • Navigation system implementation • ASIC development • Engineering design and implementation processes • Knowledge and experience of working in crypto and key management
