So, what does the role of Assistant Accountant entail?

Reporting to and supporting the Hospital Finance Director, as the Assistant Accountant you will be manage transaction processes and reports, as well as supporting management accounting and operational analysis. Your duties will include but not be limited to:

* Supporting the preparation, delivery and analysis of the monthly management accounts, forecasts and budget
* Posting outpatient charges and ensuring charges and charge sheets are complete and accurate
* Charging consultants for consultant room usage and billing conference centre events
* Overseeing and processing cash receipts, and bank reconciliations
* Managing patient billing processes and reports to optimise revenue
* Ensuring that heads of departments have up to date benchmarking reports and KPIs
* Investigating variances from budget and ensuring daily KPI processes are accurate
* Resolving purchase ledger, consultant and patient queries
* Analysing maintenance contracts
* Completing checks on Fixed Asset Register, and undertaking balance sheet reconciliations
* Calculating procedure costings, fees, holiday pay and hire costs etc.
* Preparing and managing contracts for authorisation by the Hospital Finance Director

What do I need in order to be considered for this Assistant Accountant role?

* Proven experience with transactional accounting, along with analysis and reporting
* As a minimum qualified to at least AAT level 4, and ideally have commenced study towards CIMA
* Ability to understand key business processes and complex business issues
* Ability to interpret financial and operating data and identify where the value drivers are for profit
* Superb analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time appropriately
* High level of IT literacy with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel at advanced level
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work as part of a team with a proactive, positive 'can do' attitude

Although not essential, proven experience with SAP would be highly advantageous.

Salary: £18,000 to £20,000, level dependent on experience and qualifications.
