Job Title: Industrial Team Leader
Rate:£47K to £447,040 Per Year
Description: PMP Recruitment are looking for 3 experienced team leaders to work for a large and well known manufacturing company in llantrisant. This is temporary work to cover long term sick. Shift work which will pay at 47,000 inclusive of shift allowance.

Day to day responsibility for leading a team to deliver the schedule safely with no environmental issues, to the standards of quality and productivity required. They regularly teach, coach & confirm standards and performance. They ensure that everyone in their team knows how to perform their jobs, what the standards are, what is expected of them and how to deal with abnormal situations.

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Responsibilities

* Follow the SHE processes and procedures on our site at all times, constantly thinking about the safest way to do things.
* Get involved in SHE activities and look for opportunities to make improvements.
* Look after your safety and the safety of your colleagues by challenging and reporting unsafe behaviour and conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

Systems and Procedures

* Fully understand and communicate the importance of adherence to standards in production and constantly strive for adherence perfection.

* Challenge operators on deviation from any standard continually reinforcing the importance of adhering to them.

* Ensure all production tasks in their zone have a standard operating procedure (SOP) that has been developed with the team.

* Ensure teams are trained in the use of SOP’s

* Have a clear understanding of how the production system works and its performance drivers and ensure this is fully understood by their teams.

* Ensure effective communication to their team and their colleagues through standard shift handovers and shift huddles.

* Ensure the Quality of the product is to standard ensuring robust fail safe systems are followed to prevent poor quality product escaping to internal or external customers.


* To deliver the shift plan OTIF, whilst driving sustainable improvement.

* Ensure performance is clearly and effectively communicated through the shift huddles and handovers.

* Monitor production performance on “day by the hour” basis across their team & appropriately challenge variation from plan.

* Carry out quick problem solving with the teams (5 why) on the line and engages with the appropriate support groups as and when required.

* Coach & develop teams to enable them to conduct quick structured problem solving line side (5why).

* Carry out Situation Background Assessment and Recommendation (SBAR) for quality failures with actions closed out on time in full.

* Prepare the information required for production meetings and actively participate in these meeting as required. Report actions back to colleagues & teams in their area.


* Cover Spec Lab duties as and when required

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

General Team leader:

* Extensive experience of working in a customer focused environment, internal or external.
* Experience of working within a LEAN manufacturing environment.
* Previous experience of leading teams.
* Experience of working in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
* Ideally ONC or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical/Processes Engineering
* Ideally IOSH qualified
* Site COMAH access training

Area specific requirements:

* COMAH area specific training as defined by SHE team.
* Compliant with the following standards:
* BSI 14001, and IPPC directive (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control)
* ISO9000, 14001 and SA8000 procedures.
