Sitec has a requirement for several Electronic Engineers to be based on-site at Caterpillar Perkins in Peterborough. These are contract positions with an estimated duration of 12 months.

The hours are 37hrs per week, Mon-Thurs 8.30 to 4.45, Fri 8.30 to 4.45

The Innovation & Technology Development team offers some of the most exciting engineering roles within the Caterpillar global organisation. Working on the integration of electronic and electrical systems within multiple Caterpillar products provides the opportunity to work with multiple disciplines within the organisation.
The integration of the latest Electronics and Electrical technology helps differentiate Caterpillar products from its competitors by enabling exceptional performance and value to the customer. Our engine systems control air and fuel delivery with millisecond precision to maximise performance and minimise exhaust emissions. Our integrated machine systems control all aspects of construction machine operation (engine, transmission, hydraulic systems), provide the human-machine interface (operator controls and information displays), and constantly monitor and communicate position, operation, diagnostic and prognostic information to enable machine automation, improved productivity and enhanced serviceability.

The Advanced Components & Technologies (AC&T) division, based in Peterborough (UK), have a number of exiting opportunities to join the team to contribute to the design and development of electrical and electronic control systems for Caterpillar engine and machine prime products developed and produced in Europe.

‘Must have’ key skills and competencies for these roles:

Degree-qualified engineer with experience in the broad range of engineering activities involved in the development and validation of machine/vehicle and diesel engine control systems.

‘Desirable’ key skills and competencies for these roles

• Systems engineering experience of:
• Collecting customer requirements
• Documenting technical specifications,
• Developing features and integrating them in machine or engine embedded software (e.g. throttle, display support, fan control)
• Completion of a verification testing.
• Knowledge of control algorithm development auto-coding using the Matlab / Simulink tool set.
• Vehicle or subsystem control systems validation experience
• Experience in HIL/SIL validation and verification using D-Space or NI test benches
• Prior experience of development of automated software test plans using dSPACE Automation Desk or Labview Veristand and the maintenance of plant models used in HiL closed-loop testing.
• Experience in C-code development for real-time embedded control systems.
The background would the ideal candidate have:
