We are recruiting for an innovative, market leading Manufacturer based in Frome are, who value, ownership, team work and accountability are up skilling their current team.

Qualifications
• The Hygiene Shift Manager ideally will have a time served apprenticeship or equivalent

Duties
To drive Health Safety culture, systems and standards across operations. Ensure all staff operate in a safe working environment through adherence to Health, safety and environmental policies and relevant SOPs (standard operating procedures) and SSOW (safe systems of work).
Championing Health & Safety, Food Safety and Quality, targeting a zero failure mentality.
Identifying and resolving potential areas of risk, and respond to complaints regarding potential food hygiene matters.

The role has circa 20 direct reports, but will manage a shift on a daily basis with circa 30-35 team members working multiple shift patterns.

Writing of Hygiene SOPs to ensure staff are appropriately trained and follow safe systems of work. Requires chemical awareness, identification of key inspection points, carry out root cause analysis and ensure corrective action is taken in a timely manner.

Responsible for the stock control of hygiene chemicals & consumables.

Supports site change management processes ensuring all hygiene related elements are well understood & communicated.

To lead the implementation and monitoring of GMP standards.

To support the implementation of personal training and development plans for all individuals within the team to ensure succession planning and multi skilled workforce for the site.

Maintain training needs analyses to ensure skills across all staff responsible for cleaning equipment & environment met retailer standards.

To create and maintain an effective team culture, which has personal accountability for, Safety, Food Safety, Quality, GMP and performance and continuous improvement requirements.
Motivates and leads the teams to consistently achieve agreed targets and key performance indicators;

Hygiene - ensure all equipment and factory environment mets/exceeds laid down retailer hygiene standards.

Safety - ensure all compliance with H&S legislation in day-to-day operations, training and safety culture on site.

Quality - drive the quality agenda with the site technical team and ensure GMP and food safety compliance at all times, taking responsibility for all quality aspects.

Materials Efficiency - working closely with the planning department ensure materials compliance with quality, and waste. Support any changes or projects to delivery cheese waste / packaging improvements.

Productivity - responsible for the shifts and site productivity standards, striving for improvements and holding to account the failures to reach the standards.

Engineering - work with engineering team ensure their compliance to hygiene standards and work with them as part of cross functional teams to identify improvement opportunities.

Service - responsible for compliance with the schedule adherence to the plan and service requirements and changes as and when required by customers.

Cost - ownership of the costs associated with the shifts and the site in regards, hygiene chemicals & consumables, labour, waste, damage and quality issues. Ensure adherence to the budgeted costs and being able to justify any variations to the shift cost base.
