The Company:

Meantime Brewing Company is the pioneer of modern craft beer in the UK and is widely regarded as the UK’s number 1 craft beer brand. Founded in 1999, Meantime operates from a state of the art craft brewery in Greenwich.

Meantime was the first British brewery to win awards at the World Beer Cup in 2004 and is the only British brewery to have won medals at every World Beer Cup since. In 2007, Meantime had four beers ranked in the 'Worlds 50 Best Beers' as compiled by the UK-based International Beer Challenge; a feat it repeated in 2008. Alastair Hook was named the 2008 Brewer of the Year by the British Guild of Beer Writers.

Meantime benefits from being owned by Asahi (the 2nd largest beer group in the world) receiving all the resources and support they require from a global powerhouse whilst still being run as its own independent business.

The Role:

We are seeking an On Trade National Account Manager to join our exciting, rapidly growing business. This role requires an individual with an ambitious and positive attitude, with the proven ability to prioritise and drive sales forward.

Reporting directly to the Sales Director you will be responsible for developing our business-critical relationships with our key on Trade RTM partners. Your role will focus on this critical link between us, our key retailers and end customers.

You will be required to manage the brand’s distribution and presence with our partners with a particular focus on promoting into the free trade and independent sector. You will need excellent communication skills as you will be expected to work closely with our National Accounts and Field Sales team. It is your responsibility to ensure that these teams are armed with the right information, the right promotional activity, and the right leads to excel in their roles.

The ability to plan, prioritise and execute comprehensive sales campaigns is essential. Your commercial awareness and negotiation skills will need to be outstanding. You will be expected to correctly judge and successfully sell in pricing and promotional strategies to ensure we achieve profit and volume targets.

Your financial acumen, record keeping and understanding of commercial contracts will need to be at the highest level.

Most importantly of all however, this job requires an individual who is already connected in the UK RTM has contacts and earned respect within the marketplace.


The Person:

• Highly financially literate and used to delivering success against agreed targets and budgets.
• Adept at contracting, negotiation, and planning activity with detailed commercial planning
• Self-starting, entrepreneurial and highly adaptable in a rapidly changing marketplace.
• Exceptional analytical skills and experience in developing marketing strategies at a national and individual retailer level.
• A diplomat and advocate who can persuade and win over distributor partners, internal customers and third-party sales forces.
• Able to work comfortably in a team, but with enough drive to set your own objectives and keep constantly busy. Goal driven.
• A rapid learner and a creative solver of problems.
• In good health and able to cope with the rigours of a demanding job.


Essential Experience and Skills:

• Current National Account experience in On Trade RTM.
• At least 1 years’ experience of working within the UK Wholesale sector., with a strong contact base.
• At least three years proven track record in a premium brand sales environment.
• Strong and articulate communicator
• Excellent negotiator
• Experience in managing budgets, contracts, and promotional and marketing schedules.
• A proven track record in sales and experience of working with competing priorities through meticulous planning and preparation.
• Computer literate, able to handle all the basic Microsoft Office applications and to prepare excellent presentations and complex financial documents on Microsoft.
• Administration skills need to be impeccable.
• Owner of a full clean European Driving licence for at least the last three years.
