Job Title: Production Engineer
Location:Bedford
Rate:£28K to £32K Per Year    Benefits: DOE + Bens
Description: Our client is looking to recruit a Production Engineer to be responsible for delivering effective and efficient Production Engineering to ensure Design & Manufacture meets the schedules and costs of designated projects, as well as contributing to estimating (pricing) and technical assessment of Customer requirements in support of the Bids and Projects.

This will include monitoring progress of in house planned production in real-time, organizing and updating parts lists and communicating with Project Managers and other key stakeholders to ensure that production plans are integrated across the company. Additionally you will have active involvement in, and improvement of, subcontract management processes.

Your responsibilities will include

• Developing pricing sheets in accordance with project/Customer requirements.
• Involved in the development of D&M project schedules during the bid phase of a project, including the identification of strategic sub-contracting requirements.
• Co-ordinating and liaising with project Design Engineers regarding “Design for Manufacture” techniques.
• Sizing and ordering material billets and raising planning sheets (Route Cards) using 'best practice' production methods.
• Co-ordinating Design Engineers to achieve the timely production of pre-issue drawings to meet project schedules and the Integrated Schedule.
• Set up and update project parts list and oversee its use.
• Monitoring and recording the progress of parts being manufactured in house and managing delivery of sub contracted parts.

Essential skills and experience:

• Extensive experience of working as a ‘shop floor’ manufacturing engineer with a strong bias to precision engineering of low and high volume parts.
• Either a HNC/D or degree in an Engineering discipline (ideally, Manufacturing Engineering or Production Engineering) or equivalent vocational experience.
• Working understanding of two or three dimensional CAD tools and experience of working with subcontractors.
• Sound understanding and experience of developing continuous improvement and influencing change.
• Ability to build successful working relationships with a wide range of people and the flexibility of approach to respond to changing priorities.
• Ability to work under pressure and drive own and others results.

Desirable experience

• Using project management methodologies & tools; 5S and lean manufacturing processes and working knowledge of MRP systems.

The successful candidate must satisfy security clearance requirements – including the last 5 years continual UK residency.
