Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer
Location:South Wales
Rate:£400 to £520 Per Day
Description: Senior Systems Engineer required applying the systems engineering approach to support the delivery of a number of complex maintenance training aids being developed to satisfy the training requirement. The role will be a primary technical interface for this key element of the project providing a clearly defined technical baseline to enable training device development. In order to achieve this, the role will be required to work collaboratively to coordinate the outputs of a number of related engineering disciplines including Platform Systems Engineering, Reliability & Maintainability and Training specialists.
The role will also involve the development of test and acceptance arrangements with suppliers and the review of detailed test and acceptance artefacts to ensure compliance to requirements (Detailed Test Specifications, Test Reports etc. ). The role will be required to support the up-contract sell off of the training solution.

Typical activities will include:
Develop, collate and maintain formal design documentation data sets including, for example ICDs and requirement specifications using relevant toolsets.
Analysis of design documentation (SSDDs, FMECAs etc.) to support the development of fault isolation procedures and tools.
Develop Detailed Test Specification (DTS) to verify function and performance against use cases and requirements.
Review Supplier generated DTS to ensure supplier testing is coherent with contracted requirements.
Implementation of test specifications to generate test evidence on trials, and from labs based tests.
Work collaboratively with suppliers, software team and system engineering teams in the investigation, diagnosis, reporting and resolution of faults
Preparation of test reports, including test metrics
Collate acceptance evidence and link to DOORs requirements. Generate acceptance paperwork for submission to the customer
Support Supplier and Customer acceptance events.
Transfer technical knowledge within the training engineering team in order to facilitate understanding.
Technical management of suppliers through formal design review process (SRR/SDR/PDR/CDR/TRR/etc.)
Management of technical baselines and change.
Management and oversight of on-site installation and commissioning

The successful candidate will have the below skills:
Systems Engineering Lifecycle – Design, Development, Test, Acceptance, Production
Requirements Writing – Using IBM DOORS
Production of technical descriptions, requirements specification, ICDs etc. – working to Data Item Description (DID)
Customer facing presentation skills
Systems test methodologies and associated best practice
Test specification preparation & evaluation
Ability to analyse design documentation including SSDDs, FMECAs, RBDs etc. to support development of fault simulation and fault isolating processes.
Supplier Technical Management
Self-Motivated, Team Player, Flexibility / Adaptability
Use of MS Office Applications
Management of defects and technical change
Management and oversight of on-site installation and commissioning.

The successful candidate will also have the below experience:
Experience of working in large systems engineering programmes using formal change control processes
Hands on experience of System Integration activity
Detailed fault investigation to establish root causes in highly integrated systems employing CAN/MilCan/ Ethernet
Experience of writing and evaluating test specifications
Experience of executing acceptance tests of large complex software intensive projects with high levels of user interaction
Experience of Requirements Engineering using IBM DOORS
Excellent English writing and speaking skills
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
