Who will I be working with?

Calder Industrial Materials is a highly reputable manufacturing company with headquarters based in Chester, with significant experience delivering high quality, tailored solutions for a wide range of customers worldwide. Calder is one of the UK's leading building materials suppliers, delivering lead sheet and a wide range of ancillary products to builders' merchants nationwide. In addition, Calder are also the UK's leading specialist in lead engineering. The company designs, manufactures and installs radiation shielding and other products in the nuclear, medical and other markets.

As a Production Manager, what will the role entail?

Reporting to the Operations Director, as Production Manager you will manage and take responsibility for the machine shop and other key production cells on a day-to-day basis. This will include job co-ordination and planning, management of labour and overall resource management. Your duties will include but not be limited to:

* Ensuring production targets and plant output are met
* Ensuring quality objectives, targets and requirements are complied with
* Working with senior management to improve yield
* Investigating complaints and working to eliminate the root cause
* Introducing and maintaining modern clean-in-place (CIP) techniques to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
* Co-ordinating and communicating the management objectives and targets with Team Leaders
* Ensuring the shifts are fully manned, and motivating staff to ensure optimum performance
* Ensuring health and safety standards are met

What will I need to be considered for this Production Manager role?

* Proven experience at managerial level within a busy machine shop
* HNC equivalent or higher in an engineering, science or management subject
* Good working knowledge of modern CNC machining centres, lathes and milling machines
* Ability to read engineering drawings
* Knowledge of ISO quality systems
* Previous experience of working to budgets and constraints
* Ability to work well as part of a team
* Good communication skills
* Strong self-motivation
* Computer literacy

Knowledge of tool, jig and fixture design with the ability to programme machinery and specific tooling requirements would be advantageous but not essential.

What will I receive in return?

Salary: £40,000 to £42,000 per annum, level dependent on current experience and qualifications

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, working Monday to Thursday 8:30am - 5pm and Friday 8:30am - 12:30pm
