Description: Head of ITS Operations

Head of Operations required to lead the IT Services function of a busy and complex financial services business based in Glasgow City Centre. The position is being created to ensure the client has resilient, scalable and performant infrastructure and operational environments that support both BAU and project deployment to internal and external users.

You will lead a team of over 100 permanent employees with a sizeable budget responsibility and direct reporting to the company Chief Information Officer.

What we are looking for:

 Proven track record of managing IT Services and the delivery of major complex development projects with high technical specifications within tight budgetary and timescale constraints
 Demonstrable experience of working at senior level, in either public or private sector, of working with colleagues to deliver change to business processes and systems to deliver cost savings and service improvements for customers
 Advanced communication skills with an ability to inspire and encourage debate on strategic issues with all stakeholders
 Working knowledge of industry standard security
 Proven people management skills with the ability to also manage partner/provider relationships
 Strong influencing skills with both internal staff and external stakeholders with the ability to provide clear and non-technical advice

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

 Graduate in an IT-related discipline with an MBA would be advantageous
 Demonstrable experience of working with modern network management solutions (MPLS or similar) utility or commoditised hosting environments
 Experience in coding language, including at least one of Ruby, Java, C++ or .net would be desirable
 Awareness and understanding of both Data Protection laws and regulations

Role Purpose:

 To ensure that the delivery of strategic direction and business priorities are fully supported by the right infrastructure and systems
 To ensure effective day to day management of the operational departments, maintaining systems, infrastructure, systems applications and developments along with the full suite of support services
 To deliver technologies and systems that meet the needs of the businesses IT service users and operational staff
 Providing services to reduce operational risk and minimise system failure by ensuring resilience and Disaster Recovery are core to business operations
 Championing the strategic importance of people, talent management and development issues, building a strong culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing, between specialists and generalists
 Building a culture of data driven technology within the IT department, leading, engaging and supporting IT staff through the change process
