The Company is part of a family owned group of businesses that has a history dating back to 1947. It has two engineering companies which manufacture a wide range of laboratory and process equipment. Their products are sold all over the World, to small independent companies, and large multinationals. The Group directly employs almost 60 staff and occupies modern, purpose built premises close to Haywards Heath train station.

The Role

The internal sales and business development position is a new role and the successful candidate will be office based, reporting directly to the Sales Director, but expected to manage their own time and work without daily direction. There will be two key requirements of the role:

* Researching prospective customers, establishing contact, gaining interest in their product range, and diarising sales visits for their field based sales team.
* Following up on lower value quotations (generally less than £2k), with a view to providing answers to questions raised, and ultimately securing the sale. As confidence and product knowledge increases, the value of quotes being dealt with will also increase.

The Ideal Candidate

They are seeking a confident self-starter, innovative in their thinking, and hungry for positive results. This role will require a systematic and logical approach when researching prospects, but also the tenacity, determination, and accomplished communication skills to reach and influence decision makers.

As a great communicator with strong influencing skills, the ideal candidate will achieve sales by effortlessly building rapport with the customer, instilling confidence and trust in both the product and their company. They will be confident in selling via phone.

General computer literacy and a background in technical sales or decision influencing roles will be essential, and a second language would be preferred.
