Job Title: 1st Line Support Technician
Location:Stroud
Rate:£18K to £22K Per Year    Benefits: Excellent Benefits

Based: Stroud or Swindon

Our Client is a large Logistics company based in Gloucestershire, they are looking for a 1st Line Support Engineer to join their IT team, ideally based at their HQ in Stroud. Although candidates from the Swindon area can also be considered.

We are searching for a first line support technician to join their helpdesk team. You will be the first point of contact providing Software/Hardware technical support to their internal employees and business partners, escalating when required to 2nd / 3rd line support.

Key Job Responsibilities:

* Take phone calls from users and log problems in the relevant helpdesk software
* Manage incoming emails and alerts escalating to relevant members of the team as necessary
* Run start of day checks on IT systems to ensure correct operation and escalate any problems
* Communicate promptly and clearly status updates
* Ensure smooth administration of core IT processes, asset management, mobile phone allocations etc.
* Attend to first line IT technical tasks, such as setting up accounts, installing software and trouble-shooting PC hardware
* Be part of a monthly on call rota for basic out of hours support and escalation
* Provide software support using Remote Control/Access systems, following basic processes and diagnostics to establish the exact problem on site and implement fixes
* Give technical support to engineers on site with all queries when necessary
* You will assist with the implementation of new software, hardware releases and ad-hoc rollouts as part of a team

Skills and Experience required:

* Excellent Oral and written communication skills is a must
* Excellent PC skills
* Educated to GCSE level in Maths and English as a minimum but ideally with some IT Qualifications
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications
* Keen attention to detail and strong process based trouble shooting skills
* Can manage high workloads as and when required
* Understanding of the following would be a bonus: Remote connections, SQL, Borland, Visual Basic, C#
