Who will I be working with?

Héroux-Devtek is an international company specialising in the design, development, manufacture, integration, testing and repair and overhaul of landing gear and actuation systems and components for the Aerospace market. So, what will the role of Stress Engineer entail?

Reporting to the Chief Stress Engineer, you will be responsible for the analysis and verification of the strength of all Héroux-Devtek products, from simple hydraulic valves to complete landing gear systems. Your duties will include, although not be limited to:

* Determining applied loads on components by interpreting system drawings and specifications
* Using calculations and computer simulation software to determine fatigue life of components
* Performing hand stress calculations using standard methods and data sheets
* Translating specification and airworthiness requirements into qualification test procedures
* Ensuring that projects are completed to cost and in a timely manner
* Producing reports on analyses and tests for issue to Civil and Military Airworthiness Authorities
* Presenting information to colleagues and customers

What will I need to be considered for this Stress Engineer vacancy?

* Proven experience in stress analysis, ideally within the aerospace industry
* Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
* Ability to determine loading mechanisms within structural systems though the interpretation of design data, for example drawings or CAD data
* Understanding of relevant structural requirements including familiarity with aerospace standard practices and regulations
* Working knowledge of aerospace materials and processes with regard to strength and fatigue
* Proven experience in finite element analysis, preferably with experience of ABAQUS and ABAQUS/CAE
* Motivation to succeed, with a proactive 'can do' approach
* Superb interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and encourage others
* High standard of IT literacy, including Microsoft Office for presentations and report writing

Salary: Attractive salary, level dependent on experience and qualifications

Contract type: Permanent

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday, 8am to 4:30pm and Friday 8am to 1:00pm

Location: Runcorn (Cheshire)
