Job Title: Associate FM Consultant

Rate:£45K to £50K Per Year

We are looking for someone who is a good all-rounder with a solid background in operational efficiency and has demonstrable experience in offering strategic advice to their clients.

The role of the Associate Facilities Consultant will be to help clients improve the cost and operational effectiveness of their buildings and built asset portfolios, including (but not limited to) providing:

• Strategic advice on effective Facilities Management (FM) of a range of building types, including all aspects of property/building use, operation, management and maintenance covering hard and soft FM issues and costs

• Practical, effective solutions to FM requirements covering bench-marking analysis and due diligence assessments, market testing, procurement and the monitoring and management of FM contracts.

The successful candidate will work closely with wider teams to develop strategic solutions to clients’ property portfolio/asset problems, including life cycle approaches to costing sustainable options.

Working with a Partner, to help develop and deliver asset and facilities consulting services focused on providing effective, targeted advice and support to clients and design teams about how to improve the performance of buildings and built assets.

You will have a minimum of 5-7 years experience in construction, with a focus on providing FM advice and services.

Knowledge of:
• Construction costs and economics
• Current FM practice and process
• Life cycle costs – including modelling techniques, cost optimisation methods, data sources, etc
• Policy developments in relation to FM, new approaches, IT developments, etc
• Option appraisals and investment strategies

Candidates should also have knowledge of the following:
• Sustainability and, in particular, how it affects/impacts on construction and property
• Environmental evaluation tools (BREEAM, LEED, etc) and associated strategies
• Renewable energy approaches in construction
• Key developments in new construction technology

You will hold a first degree in a construction or similar discipline (FM, surveying, engineering, architecture).

You will be a member of a recognised professional institution (RICS/RIBA/IFM/ICE/CIBSE) or equivalent).

- The ability to engage with and advise clients on strategic FM issues and arrangements
- Good presentation skills (both oral and written).
- A collaborative approach and be able to work with specialists in a wide range of disciplines/services, and co-ordinate their input.
- The ability to engage with and advise design teams
- Confidence and be articulate.
- The credibility to contribute to business development by developing contacts and networks within the industry.
- Expertise and knowledge to achieve sustainable and tangible results in a practical way.
