Based - Hertfordshire

Our Client a market leading dynamic Food import and export business. Supplying the manufacturing and food service sectors are seeking an experienced IT infrastructure Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate the design, installation, and connectivity of computer systems and network infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of the organisation’s IT assets. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimising all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication links. This role is also responsible for telephone, data centre, security systems and other electronic infrastructure

Key responsibilities:

* Providing technical expertise and support to maintain and expand IT infrastructure services including communication (LAN, WAN, email ), database, backup recovery, regulatory compliance
* Build capability and manage performance, quality, integrity and efficiency of IT Infrastructure
* Provide hands on technical and management support, acting as a point of escalation for technical issues across specialties such as networking, data center and telephone
* Maintain overall security of the network, systems and data
* Owns and maintains strict controls on data/system backups and recoverability
* Leading service improvement programs working across IT function to enhance service/technologies
* Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance
* Assist development of IT departmental strategies to align with overall business and corporate strategy
* Maintain and support SLA agreements and liaise with third party support vendors
* Establish ‘Best Practice’ standards as well as departmental policies and procedures
* Overall responsibility for leasing and strategic planning for system upgrades
* Develop and implement hardware and software standards for network, servers, databases, wireless technology, file & print services

Essential Skills and Experience

* Minimum 10 years of IT experience - 5 years management experience preferred
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent
* Certifications in Microsoft/CCNA/VMware technologies, ITIL or PMI Certification is an advantage
* Strong hands-on/technical knowledge of core Microsoft technologies (Windows Servers, Active Directory, SharePoint, MS SQL and core Network/Cisco technologies like LAN/WAN, subnets, firewalls, VLAN's, and VPN using Cisco switches, routers and ASA's, firewalls)
* Strong hands-on/technical knowledge of VMware/Hyper-V technologies, V Center Server, Update Manager, desktop virtualization, user environment management – (desktops/laptops, profile management, software delivery)
* Experience of IT Infrastructure technologies like storage area networks, WAN acceleration devices, virtualization, and data warehouse
* Must have proven management skills with the ability to mentor 1 or 2 staff members
* Interact and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
