We are looking for an experienced catering professional to join the team of our client.
The Deputy Steward will work closely along side and assist the Steward in the day to day running and supervision of the catering services they offer by providing high levels of customer service.
Key responsibilities are supervising meal periods meeting set standards while maintaining hygiene levels. Organising and directing the team to run an efficient service. Ensuring the team are adhering to the uniform standards and meeting the expectation. Checking stock levels, laying tables, preparing table plans and set up for service. You will also be required to assist with the service in the senior common room and the High Table, this will entail cleaning and polishing silver and glass wear along with specialist service equipment. Receiving and dealing with deliveries. Despatching and recording wine issues to the Hall and Bar. Implementing cleaning schedules for all area's. Opening and closing the Bar at set times, Cashing up and bottling up as required before each shift, assisting the Steward with preparation of staff rota's, maintaining good and efficient stock control in the cellar and store room. You will also be instrumental in the operation and upkeep of the on-site café.
It is an essential requirement that you will have at least 1 years experience in each of the following :
- Banqueting supervision experience of up to 300 covers
- Bar experience to include opening, closing and cashing up
- Commercial experience of a fine dining restaurant / hotel food service of a 4* establishment
Desirable qualities / skills would be an interest in food and drink, basic awareness of health and safety issues, ability to recall guest orders, strong numeracy skills to deal with payments and bills.
Working hours will be 40 hours per week on a rota basis working any 5 days from 7 and you will need to have flexibility with the working hours.
