Main Purpose of Job:
20-24 hours per week
To support delivery of an ICT based resettlement, learning and work information, advice and guidance service to members of the UK Armed Forces Services leavers and ex-Service community and working age dependants.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
* To manage and maintain an electronic appointments diary in conjunction with completing a range of other assessment processes.
* To assess the vocational training and education needs of individual beneficiaries and progress applications for financial assistance to undertake a course of training leading to sustainable employment outcome.
* To assist beneficiaries in identifying appropriate skills and qualifications consistent with ability and in line with needs of local labour markets
* To ensure client information on Civvy Street database systems is maintained accurately and kept up to date and produce statistical reports and management information
* To provide evidence to develop business cases in support of recommendation made for grants or loans
* To link with and support access to specialist services/partner agencies to ensure appropriate referrals can be made
* Promote and uphold equal opportunities policy and procedures
* To engage with RBL Regional and Head Office Welfare staff and other agencies to support enquiries and requests for assistance with vocational training and education
* To liaise with other IAG providers to provide effective referral support for beneficiaries.
Skills and Experience
* Educated to GCSE and ‘A’ Level with a Diploma/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Advice and Guidance
* Must have an understanding and proven track record in learning and information, advice and guidance in Government’s Lifelong Learning strategy
* Advanced PC, interviewing and assessment skills
* Must be approachable, empathetic, flexible and adaptable
* An understanding of HM Forces resettlement and/or Service/ex-Service voluntary sector as well as the objectives of The Royal British Legion is desirable but not essential.
* Knowledge and experience in e-guidance and answering a helpline would be useful but not essential.
