The Role
* To prepare design concepts for new products * To perform heat/cooling calculations for cabs * To perform heat exchanger performance calculations * To produce engineering designs for the new product using appropriate CAD tools * To liaise with Customer engineering representatives on design issues * To participate in the engineering aspects of Cost Reduction Programs * To conduct Engineering Changes to existing products. Responsibilities * New Products: * Creation of conceptual designs to suit customer requirements. * Assisting in the preparation of commercial quotations for the concepts. * Developing the concept through to final design intent. * Liasing with Customers engineering representative. * Detailing the final design intent for manufacturing. * Compiling detailed Bills of Materials for the final design * Participating in Design and Process FMEA`s * Organising and over-seeing the build of the prototype system. * Over-seeing the installation of the system into the machine or cab. * Participating in the testing of the prototype system. * Preparation of all the information that is required for introducing the system into production. * Existing Products: * Participating in Cross Functional Cost Reduction Team * Conduct reviews on existing products in order to reduce manufacturing and/or material costs. * Conduct reviews on existing products with a view to improving the performance. * Conduct Engineering Changes to existing products. * Continuous Improvement Initiatives * Participation as an individual or team member in continuous improvement initiatives in all areas and functions of the company. In order to perform the above responsibilities effectively the Design Engineer will have to be capable of communicating with all levels of personnel from Senior Management and Shop Floor personnel within Bergstrom Europe through to customers and suppliers. Qualifications * Preferably a Degree in Mechanical Engineering which has encompassed the subjects of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. * Design Engineers with an alternative qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and some relevant experience will be considered for the position. * CAD experience; - Pro-Engineer (essential) with Surface design experience highly desirable * Autocad Release 14 or most current release. * Microsoft Office. Driving Licence A full driving licence is required and a willingness to travel both within the UK and Europe. |
