Technical web development manager required in London's West End with a proven track record delivering large complex web based systems, to lead a team designing and developing large world class on line platforms and applications for web search using PHP, Perl, Unix, Oracle, SQL is required by one of the worlds best known internet companies.
The role will require strong leadership & man management skills but also a proven hands on software engineering background in Unix based web development (ideally PHP or Perl) and delivering large high performance, distributed object orientated client server and web systems. Combined with a deep technical knowledge of software engineering practices including unit testing, configuration management, and release management. Experience of the design / architecture and implementation of large scale web systems, open source projects, web services, and experience of QA would also be an advantage. Responsibilities will include managing a team of engineers in the UK and two other countries to design and implement products for web search, including ensuring high quality design and practices, implementation and testing including the efficiency of reuse and strong lifecycle processes. You will also be responsible for the architecture, design, practices, documentation, process, scalability, and internationalization of the product.
