Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator (HSE Co-ordinator)
6 month contract to perm role Job purpose of the HSE Coordinator: Assist with managing the Health, Safety and Environment agenda, with a view to reducing risk and injury to ensure that all employees at the two-building site are working in a safe and secure working environment. Principal accountabilities: •To set up and achieve Level 1 ERP certification in 2008. •Assist with maintaining compliance to H&S legislation with the aim of reducing all accidents, severity rate and combined RIDDOR & LTI rate across all sites. •Assist with achieving full compliance to ISO 14001 in 2009 and ongoing •Manage Utilities on site •3rd party monitoring to ensure all maintenance and engineering projects are delivered to a high standard, are adhering to H&S regulations and have minimal impact to employees on site •Manage 3rd party security contracts to ensure that the building and employees are kept secure •Ongoing support to all 3rd party contractors and sub contractors to ensure they are delivering to both H&S and ISO14001 standards •Maintain a pro-active H&S culture at the site by ensuing that individuals are aware of their responsibilities •Responsible for developing H&S plans and procedures •Preparing reports and ensuring that any remedial actions identified are closed out within an appropriate time frame •Maintaining HSE filing systems •Maintaining the HSE audit programme, updating the system accordingly Decision Making Authority: •Proactive, professional and proficient to make decisions on minor departmental issues •Able to seek advice and support from other sites within the company as well as external suppliers of services Experience / Competencies Required: •Degree or equivalent educational standard and / or NEBOSH •A good understanding of H&S regulatory requirements in the UK •Risk assessment experience •An understanding of auditing H&S systems •Strong analytical and thinking skills •Basic understanding of environmental aspects and impacts •Experience within an FMCG environment would be beneficial |
