The main purpose of the role is to oversee the function of the Accounts & Payroll Administrator (who currently works 4 days per week) ensuring the following are carried out by the A & P A accurately and timely in the best interests of the company, recommending improvements
Sales Ledger - setting up customer accounts and setting payment terms. Raising approx. 100 – 150 invoices per month and reconciling accounts on Sage Line 50. Credit Control – telephoning of overdue accounts for payment, sending out Statements and monitoring Aged Debtors. Purchase Ledger –inputting and processing invoices for purchases, allocation of correct nominal codes and authorising for payment. Banking - reconciling and managing VAT quarterly returns and compliance Journal entries including prepayments and accruals Monthly ledger reports and analysis Petty cash administration Monthly payroll for 18 employees and weekly payroll for approx. 50 temporary workers. Administration of staff pension payments, childcare vouchers, expense claims, SSP, SMP, P60's and P45's Processing starters and leavers, dealing with PAYE, NI and Tax Office matters PAYE weekly, monthly, year end functions including P35 and P14's and reconciling payments made to the Inland Revenue. Maintaining accurate records to complete P11d's, and Corporations Tax returns. Maintaining permanent staff holiday and sickness records. Calculating and maintaining temporary workers holiday accrual records. Provide a helpdesk service for temporary workers on all payroll related matters including tax and holiday accrual queries. Produce BACS payments to suppliers and staff and manual cheque payments to suppliers Maintain all paper based accounts and payroll filing. Maintain accounts for Thames Gateway Recruitment (currently dormant). In addition we require someone who can design Sage reports to generate Management accounts and customised reports specific to our business to aid in business planning, cashflow projections, sales and marketing and consultant productivity. This person will also be responsible for updating the Directors regarding HMRC and IR legislation relevant to our business. Essential skills and experience: Qualified Accountant able to work autonomously Sage Line 50, Sage Payroll, MS Excel to an Intermediate level+, Credit Control experience with a confident telephone manner Able to supervise and monitor the workload of another member of staff |
