Founded in 1997, our client's purpose is to help society become sustainable. The consultancy services team is currently composed of professionals with expertise in Life Cycle Assessment, Strategic Planning, Code for Sustainable Home (Ecohomes) and energy assessments, plus engineering for low carbon energy generation and delivery. This team is expanding in 2008 to meet increasing demand for its services. The Consultant/Senior Consultant will join an existing multi-disciplinary team of 12 people who deliver a range of consultancy services in both the private and public sectors throughout the UK. The key aspect of the role is to strengthen our client's existing and well recognised capabilities in this area, working with a number of high profile blue chip organisations.
Core responsibilities: The Consultant will be working primarily on Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and Carbon Footprinting projects for a range of clients in the retail and manufacturing sectors. The consultant will be required to: 1.Provide written and verbal consultancy services to clients in the private and public sectors. 2.Act as a Project Manager on a range of initiatives. This will include: 3.Only applicable to Senior Consultant role - Develop new services and projects to generate revenue streams. Additional responsibilities: In addition, the Consultant will be required to: oBe supportive at all times of the mission, objectives and values of the client. oDevelop and maintain excellent working relationships with all staff. oAct in accordance with company policies. oBe efficient, reliable and flexible, and have the ability to take the initiative. oUse IT systems effectively, to have a good understanding of a variety of programmes and provide support to other staff as required. oBe proactive in relation to your own personal training and development plan. oBe willing and able to travel throughout the UK and internationally. oUndertake other duties as are required and as are commensurate with your post. Person specification ·You have a demonstrable track record in a consultancy or similar setting. ·You are a self-starter and problem-solver, with good examples of how you've employed these skills. ·You are a people person who has no trouble in developing good relationships with new clients. ·You have a superb attention to detail. ·You will have a relevant environmental degree (2:1 or above) from a good university. If applying for the senior consultant role you will also need 3 years experience in the area of Carbon Footprinting or LCAs. It would be an advantage if in addition to any LCA/Carbon Footprinting experience/knowledge, you will be experienced in one of the following areas: Corporate Sustainability Issues Environmental Management Systems Environmental Auditing You are experienced in using XL, Word, Access. You will have access to your own transport with a driving license. You will be able to work on multiple projects delivering high quality work on time and within budget. The client operates an ethical pensions scheme plus a profit sharing initiative should you successfully complete your six-month probationary period. There will be five weeks holiday, plus public holidays and a relocation package is available if required. Expenses for travelling and subsistence are reimbursed monthly.
