An opening has arisen for an Estimator to join an expanding commercial team in Barking, Essex. Our client, is one of the fastest growing subcontractors in the UK, who work with a number of the major contractors within the in the Social Housing market. As a result of securing a number of new contracts fort 2009 and 2010, they are now looking for an Estimator to join their busy team. As a candidate you will : •Have a thorough attention to detail and have established a reputation for first class service. •Ensure efficient use of materials by liaising closely with the other internal departments. •Carefully read and comprehend the tender documents including terms, conditions, bond guarantees, warranties etc and seek advice and assistance when appropriate. •Identify sources and obtain estimates of materials and sub-contract prices for tenders in accordance with Company policy and procedures. Prepare tender estimates based on optional construction methods, outputs, program and resource availability. •Initiate and clearly communicate ideas to improve the commercial return of projects through alternative design methods, materials etc. •Identify potential difficulties and or risks with recommendations on possible solutions. •Produce a detailed analytical breakdown of the estimate into the allowance categories used, corrected to accord with the accepted tender sum in advance of the pre-contract meeting. •Maintain and up-date personal skills to meet current and future operational needs. •Candidate with a refurb/fit-out/social housing background preferred.
