Job Title: T3 Systems Administrator
Job Description: A Global client requires a T3 Systems Administrator to join its NOC Team based in Surrey.
The position is to support the clients systems, both the infrastructure systems for the core network and the customer servers within the managed hosting centers
This position works in the Network Operations Centre as part of a systems team, works closely with network team.
The role would suit candidates with experience of an ISP or hosting environment.
Candidate should be very heavily skilled in Unix with good skills in Microsoft
Some exposure to IP networking would also be beneficial.
Candidate will be part of an on-call rota (presently one week in three)
Since some of the work will be project orientated and involve drawing up an acceptable scope of works for the customer, customer facing skills are required.
Some flexibility will be required in terms of working hours, since some of the project work will have to be undertaken out of hours

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Resolve business and technical queries raised through the Support Desk
Provides emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule
Responsible for both production and non-production systems, supporting range of critical and non-critical applications.
Upgrade critical internal services on servers with minimum disruption.
Work under the general supervision of the Tier 3 Senior Systems
Engineer team leader
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
A solid understanding of an operating system; both Windows and Nix based, understand paging and swapping, inter-process communications, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts
Significant experience with System and network monitoring.
Significant experience with popular Mail server systems Nameserver configuration and DNS understanding – knowledge of query types and where they are relevant.
Configuration of IIS application pools, script extensions, ISAPI components, configuration backup and restore.
Performance tuning of MySQL/MSSQ
Windows expertise in 2000/2003 Server Administration. Of

3)Windows Load balancing services
4)Microsoft SQL 2000/2005
5)Microsoft Clustering 2003
6)Active Directory design and administration
7)Windows infrastructure and network design

A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understands
principles of routing, client/server programming,
the design of consistent network-wide
filesystem layouts (NFS/GFS).
Basic LAN and WAN network knowledge
Solid experience of OpenLDAP and Freeradius within an ISP environment
Network Operations Centre or operational experience
Significant programming background in
any applicable language.
Three to five years of system administration
experience
Further /higher education qualification
A degree or certificate in computer science
or a related field.
