An independent children's publishing company is looking to recruit a Project Manager. This exciting opportunity has arisen due to my clients increasing success in their market. This professional yet extremely friendly company is offering the opportunity of a highly organised Project Manager to join their team to undertake the management of a number of projects. Whilst having experience in publishing would be an advantage it is not necessary. If you have the following skills and interested in the world of publishing this could be the next step in your career. Skills required:- An interest books Excellent organisational skills A determination to keep projects on schedule Working to budget Ensuring quality guidelines are adhered to on aspects of the project Problem solving Teamwork and team leadership skills must be demonstrative in a previous role i.e. being able to show good practice by example and being able to simply get on well with colleagues and external customers and suppliers. Most of all my client is looking for someone who has masses of good “old-fashioned” common sense!!!! The role will involve keeping projects on schedule, within budget and to the high standards of quality expected in the company. The systems that you will be using will be desk-top publishing programs such as Word and Quark Express. If you do not have a working knowledge of this you will be expected to become familiar with these programs. However excel is essential. This exciting opportunity to move into a publishing environment will allow you to contribute ideas for new projects, suggest external partners and develop relationships with publishing partners (especially those in USA) and help the company to build on new publishing opportunities. Progression offered in this role will be to manage your own team of two assistant editors, a designer and a repro artist and you will be responsible of a list of books.
