Manufacturing Engineer NPI Machining
Our client is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer NPI to ensure that new products and the manufacturing processes that support them are designed for minimum overall cost to the business throughout the product life cycle. The successful candidate will be based at Burgess Hill working in a large cross functional team tasked with delivering a new platform of pumps with stretched cost, performance and delivery targets. Day to day activities include specification of CNC process/tooling/quality plans, CNC Programming, component prove outs to local procedures, component make vs. buy evaluations, evaluation of component manufacturability, generation of capital justifications, specification of internal supply mechanisms, maintenance and ownership of some project documentation, specification of local quality plans and maintenance of MRP system. In order to carry out these activities effectively, candidates will need to demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of CNC turning and milling centres at code level, tooling technology and be sensitive to the operational requirements of a high value, high variant Manufacturing Cell. An understanding of DFMA, MRP and kanban, tooling design, PFMEA, MAPICS, SOPs and Lean Manufacturing would be a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will also need to be innovative, able to create and manage local plans and be able to communicate effectively with Project and Operations staff alike. These attributes will be supported by an HNC/HND (Manufacturing/Mechanical) and a minumum 4 years experience in a programming CNC machinary to capably manufacture components to sub 20 micron tolerance. This may have been either as Operational Support or in an NPI/Project environment. The job is based full time at Burgess Hill with limited UK travel as required. |
